Sustainability at YAKINIKU®
Making the world a better place is something many people are doing these days. Barbecuing and sustainability do not go together for most. Yet even in the BBQ world, there is enough you can do to think about the environment. YAKINIKU® is working hard on different fronts to be better for the world. We'd like to take you through our sustainability.
Our materials
You buy a YAKINIKU® for life. That's why we deliberately chose the most sustainable materials. Stainless steel type 304 and bamboo, combined with ceramic and cordierite, make the Kamado 100% recyclable. The choice for durability and quality ensures that we offer a lifetime warranty on our Kamado.
In our packaging, we strive for a maximum reduction in the use of plastic. We try to make the packaging out of completely recyclable materials such as cardboard.

"Think outside the box"
We like to contribute to the environment, also from the YAKINIKU® warehouses. We do this by sending our shipments in used boxes. This way, good material is reused, waste is reduced and there is less impact on the environment. So the box you get home may look used, have unexpected prints or be bigger than you expected. We also choose to use recycled material as filling material. This way, your product stays firmly in the box and we don't use up any unnecessary material.
CO2 emissions
Unfortunately, CO2 emissions are a negative consequence of barbecuing. With a Kamado, you grill with the lowest possible emissions and footprint. The advantage of a Kamado is that you emit 70% less CO2 than a traditional barbecue and it allows you to reuse charcoal. Unfortunately, this is not possible with the YAKINIKU® Shichirin. For this reason, we only work with charcoal of the brand BBQ Flavour. This charcoal contains no added chemicals or industrial binders but is processed with natural products such as rice starch.
Stimulating natural environment
It is no secret that the meat industry has a bad impact on the climate. The production of meat is responsible for large quantities of greenhouse gases, with all the negative consequences for our planet. Take, for example, global warming and deforestation of the Amazon. Forcing people to eat less meat is a difficult task. But doing nothing is also not an option as YAKINIKU®.
For this reason, we try to inspire people to live healthier lives. We believe that barbecuing is so much more than just getting started with some sausages, fatty sauces and large pieces of meat. We try to create awareness that there are more possibilities. YAKINIKU® consciously stimulates the use of vegetables, fish and smaller pieces of meat to show that barbecuing on a Kamado has so much more to offer.
