Wood wool - Fire lighter

Where is Wood wool used?
You use Wood wool firelighters as a starter for lighting your charcoal. It's a tool to get the charcoal going. In combination with a match, you can light your charcoal in no time. Whether you're at home or camping, with Wood wool, you can effortlessly barbecue anywhere.
Is Wood wool good for lighting the barbecue?
Wood wool is very easy to use and thankfully odorless. This is important for preparing your best dishes because it ensures no chemical taste is imparted to the food. It's an ideal starter because it preserves the pure flavor of your ingredients. It is an ecological product, made from wood shavings coated with a vegetable wax. The wax on the wood shavings ensures they ignite quickly and stay lit, making it easy to get the charcoal burning quickly and without hassle.
Grill quickly and safely
Is Wood wool dangerous? No, but you should handle it safely because it is flammable. They are very quick and convenient to use, but it's best to use them with BBQ accessories like heat-resistant gloves or BBQ tongs. These accessories ensure you can work safely. Do not touch the lit wool with your hands and always use heat-resistant gloves. Store the wool in a fireproof environment and you can keep them in their resealable packaging. There is no expiration date on the wool. If you have some left over from summer, you can store them all winter until your next barbecue session.
How do I light my Kamado?
To light the charcoal in your Kamado, you need a fire starter like Wood wool. Quickly lighting the Kamado using Wood wool fire starters ensures efficient use of your Kamado. At YAKINIKU®, we offer various tips & tricks to help you, so you can light your Kamado like a master griller at home!
Step 1 – Preparation
Start by removing all the leftover ash from the old coals by shaking the coal basket. This makes the coals easier to light. Then open all the vents of the Kamado fully.
Step 2 – Filling
Next, refill the coal basket with charcoal. The right charcoal for your Kamado is BBQ Flavour’s Marabu charcoal.
Step 3 – Wood wool
Once the Kamado is refilled with charcoal, you can add the Wood wool. Light 2 to 3 Wood wool pieces spread out on the charcoal.
Step 4 – Lighting
To light the wool, use a lighter or match. The wool will catch fire immediately. After a few minutes, the charcoal will begin to glow and you can pile some charcoal on the glowing coals.
Step 5 – Grilling!

Binchotan and Wood wool
You can also use the Wood wool fire lighters to light your Binchotan. Since Binchotan is made from hard wood, it is more challenging to light, but with a few Wood wool fire starters, it becomes easy.
Step 1 – Binchopan
To light your Binchotan, it’s handy to use your Binchopan. Fill the top of your Binchopan with Binchotan, placing the Binchotan sticks vertically.
Step 2 – Wood wool
Fill the bottom with 2 to 3 pieces of Wood wool fire lighters. Then place the top back on.
Step 3 – Lighting
Light the Wood wool with a match or lighter and let it burn for about 15 to 30 minutes.
Step 4 – Grilling!
After following all these steps and the Binchotan begins to glow, you can place the Binchotan in your Shichirin. Using BBQ tongs, you can safely place it in. Now you can start grilling your favorite Shichirin recipes.
